Alert residents catch two suspects
One of the suspects demanded her cellular phone. The second suspect pushed the woman to the floor and tried to undress her.
A woman was walking along Kimberley Road in Bertrams on Sunday, November 23, when she was approached my two men.
One of the suspects demanded her cellular phone. The second suspect pushed the woman to the floor and tried to undress her.
The victim screamed for help and community members came to her aid.
The suspects tried to flee the scene, but some residents chased the suspects and managed to apprehend them in Lang Street.
Police officers were called to the scene and one firearm was found on one of the suspects.
According to Warrant Officer Richard Munyayi, from the Jeppe SAPS, the victim’s phone was found on one of the suspects.
The suspects were arrested and taken to the Jeppe SAPS.
The suspects, aged 18 and 19, are expected to appear in court soon.
Police investigations are continuing into the case.
