Prasa comments

He urged the community members to help Prasa fight this problem.

Prasa Rail’s head of marketing and communications, Mr Lesedi Mapheto, said the opening will be fixed this week.

He said Prasa is experiencing similar complains at different stations, but has not yet received a complaint about the Toorang Train Station.

“We will reinstate the pushed down panel before the end of the week. Security has closed several openings, however they are re-opened by fare evaders and those who have criminal intent. Fencing projects are underway to address fencing deficiencies,” he said.

He urged the community members to help Prasa fight this problem.

“Fencing primarily demarcates railway boundaries. A fence would not deter wilful entry onto the rail reserve by persons with criminal intent. We call on the general public, including our loyal commuters, to desist from supporting any act of crime or being an observer of a criminal act and not reporting it. We appeal to them to come forward and join the fight against crime. We will protect them when they gave us information which could lead to a successful prosecution,” said Mr Mapheto.

He said if people want to report vandalism on Prasa property, contact its operations room on 011 774-88566/7/8 or phone the customer care line on 011 774-4847.

Residents can also phone Prasa foll free on 0800 127 070.
