Ward committee nominations open

A municipal ward committees is a body of residents tasked with oversight in different categories of service delivery in the wards.

Ward 20 has three vacant positions to fill in its ward committee for Bedfordview and Wychwood.

The closing date for nominations is November 5.

A municipal ward committees is a body of residents tasked with oversight in different categories of service delivery in the wards.

Typically, members meet once a month (or more if required) to discuss and report on local issues. The administrator takes minutes and matters are reported to the various municipal departments.

The committee is presided over by the Councillor.

Requirements to be elected as a Ward Committee Member:

  •  The person must be a SA citizen
  •  The person must be a registered voter of the particular ward
  •  The person must be at least 18 years of age
  •  The person must have no criminal conviction
  •  The person must not owe the council money for services, or be in arrears, but is willing to make the necessary arrangements to settle the account according to the set Council policy.
