M2 shoot-out with R5 and AK47 rifles
As the driver was taking the Ruven Road off-ramp from the M2, a number of men fired shots at the truck. We found a number of R5 and AK47 rifles cartridges at the scene.
A passenger was killed and a truck driver is in a serious condition in hospital following a shoot-out on the M2 West this morning.
The Jeppe SAPS communications officer, Warrant Officer Richard Monyai, said the truck was driving from Maputo to City Deep when the incident happened.
He could not confirm if it was a hijacking or a hit. He said the motive for the shooting will be established as the investigation continues.
“As the driver was taking the Ruven Road off-ramp from the M2, a number of men fired shots at the truck. We found a number of R5 and AK47 rifles cartridges at the scene,” said W/O Monyai.
No arrests have been made.
