Toastmasters celebrates heritage month

Ms Ntokozo Makhoba, one of the club’s new members, presented her first impromptu speech and was voted as the best in her category.

Village Toastmasters recently held its September meeting with the theme Our Heritage.

During the impromptu section of the evening, speakers had to think on their feet and speak about some of South Africa’s diverse cultures.

Ms Ntokozo Makhoba, one of the club’s new members, presented her first impromptu speech and was voted as the best in her category.

Ms Kira Sparrow walked away with the most votes in the prepared speaking section of the evening.

The next meeting for Village Toast Masters will take place on October 21.

At this meeting the club will celebrate Toastmasters International’s 90th birthday.

Toastmasters International was founded on October 22, 1924, by Dr Ralph C Smedley.

Now, with membership exceeding 313,000 in more than 14,650 clubs in 126 countries, Toastmasters International continues to build on Dr Smedley’s foundation of teaching public speaking and leadership skills.

Village Toastmasters meet on the third Tuesday of every month at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, on the corner St David and Koster Roads, Elma Park.
