Exhibition highlights e-Siyakhokha benefits

The exhibition was held at the Alberton Community Hall on Thursday, October 9.

Against the backdrop of the Post Office strike which means residents were unable to receive utility bills via mail, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) held an exhibition to educate citizens on using the electronic payment system, e-Siyakhokha.

The exhibition was held at the Alberton Community Hall on Thursday, October 9.

e-Siyakhokha is a free, online service that enables home owners, companies, property managing agents and tenants to easily access statements and make payments for utility accounts electronically.

It also provides a full history of accounts from registration and payment made using the system.

Residents can also lodge complaints and queries from the service.

The EMM’s spokesperson, Mr Themba Gadebe, assured residents that the service is safe.

“When a user accesses the e-Siyakhokha Service website, an encrypted and completely secure connection is made between their browser and the e-Siyakhokha Service servers, ensuring that the e-Siyakhokha Services experience is safe and secure,” he said.

To register for the service, visit www.e-siyakhokha.co.za
