The Rusty Lady Bistro in Kensington was a sea of pink as the Manny de Freitas Foundation (MdFF) hosted its Breast Cancer Awareness Breakfast.

The over-50 ladies who supported the initiative ensured that awareness was raised that cancer can affect women of all ages.

In keeping with the theme of the breakfast, breast cancer survivor Ms Debbie Galanis, spoke about her emotional and life-changing story of victory over cancer.

She overcame cancer not once, but twice.

The CEO of the MdFF, Ms Jeanette de Freitas, said breast cancer is specific and different to other cancers as it affects not only the physical condition, but a woman’s womanhood and femininity as well. “Breast cancer is an intimate and difficult condition for any woman” said Ms De Freitas.

The monthly breakfasts are aimed it bringing a greater awareness about cancer and how it can be overcome.
