Edenvale Radio goes on-air

The station will be run on a non-profit basis which means that all funds raised will be used to uplift Edenvale.

Edenvale Radio officially launched on Friday.

With its offices based in the heart of Edenvale, the station hopes to show it has as much heart as the community does.

The station will be run on a non-profit basis which means that all funds raised will be used to uplift Edenvale.

“We are all about social upliftment,” said the station manager, Mr Roarke Lessing.

He added that one of the main aims of the station is to promote Edenvale to its residents.

“Through the station, we want to let people know there is nothing they cannot find in Edenvale. We will give vendors, manufacturers and service providers the platform to get their product out there so that we as ‘Edenvalers’ do not have to waste time and costs on travelling to other areas,” said Mr Lessing.

Shows on the station will include hobby’s, crafts, gardening, pets, medical and technology.

Advertising revenue generated through the station will not only help to keep the station on air, but will also go towards local charities.

Edenvale Radio will also give local artists a chance to showcase their talents.

“Visual artists, young musicians, DJ’s and garage bands will get airtime and exposure, even if it is just to make their parents proud,” said Mr Lessing.

Apart from the entertainment side, Edenvale Radio will also feature regular news, traffic and weather updates.

“40 percent of music played on the station will be proudly South African. We welcome local garage bands,” said Mr Lessing.

“Edenvale Radio is going to make a difference in the community and be fun at the same time,” he said.
