Edenvale CBD internet cafe owner arrested for drug dealing

The arrest was made during a joint operation between officers from the Edenvale SAPS and members of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD).

An Edenvale internet café owner was one of two people arrested in a recent special operation.

The man, along with another Nigerian shop owner, was found with approximately R8 000 worth of drugs.

The arrest was made during a joint operation between officers from the Edenvale SAPS and members of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD).

Spokesperson for the EMPD, Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago, said law enforcers responded to the tip off and confiscated 35 sachets of crystal meth, cocaine and khat from the shops on Van Riebeeck Avenue.

“The operations will be held on a more regular basis,” said the acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts.

He added that with the assistance of the EMPD’s SWAT and equestrian units, a clear message will be sent to drug dealers in Edenvale.

“Clamping down on drug dealing in Edenvale is a top priority for us,” said Lt Col Roberts.
