Alert officers make dagga bust

The Jeppe SAPS arrested a 28-year-old man for possession of dagga on Monday.

At about 10am, police officers were patrolling in Benrose when they came across a taxi being fixed at a workshop in Burnely Street.

Warrant Officer Richard Munyayi said the officers became suspicious and decided to stop and search the vehicle.

On searching, the officers found two large bags hidden underneath the taxi, some more bags inside the taxi and more stuffed into speaker boxes and the spare wheel. The bags contained dagga.

There were 51 bags in total, with an estimated R50 000 worth of dagga.

The suspect was arrested and detained at the Jeppe SAPS on the charge of possession of dagga.

He will appear in the Jeppe Magistrate’s Court soon.

Police investigations are ongoing.
