Public health day coming

Bez Valley Clinic to host health day.

The Bez Valley clinic health committee will host a public health event on September 30.

The event will run from 10am to 3pm at the Bez Valley clinic on the corner of 6th and 4th avenues.

The main purpose of the event will be to promote a healthy lifestyle and to support people affected by chronic and other ailments.

HIV, TB and STI preventative education will be on offer, along with a talk about the diseases.

Blood pressure testing, pap smear screening, diabetes testing, voluntary counselling and testing and a physical exercise programme will also be on offer.

As part of the event, the Department of Home Affairs will be conducting community profiling on the day of the event.

The department will offer birth certificate applications, ID document applications and status verifications.

This excludes Smart Care ID’s, which can only be applied for at a Home Affairs Office.

Applicants between 16 and 18 can apply for free, including thosewho are 60 and above.

Any other ID application will be charged at R140.
