Giving prison-born babies hope

The main purpose is to care for babies aged between 0 and two years old, born in prisons to their incarcerated mothers.

Ms Romy Titus from Babies Behind Bars was the guest speaker at the Rotary Club of Bedfordview‘s weekly meeting on September 2.

The meeting took place at the Belgravia Bowling Club.

Ms Titus provided Rotary members with a presentation about the work her organisation does with regards to babies in correctional centres across South Africa.

Ms Titus is the founder and director, and started the Johannesburg-based Public Benefits Organisation charity in 2007, which is currently also operating in Namibia and Swaziland.

The main purpose is to care for babies aged between 0 and two years old, born in prisons to their incarcerated mothers.

The motto of Ms Titus’ organisation is ‘unlocking hope’. Her passion is to ensure that each prison-born baby has the building blocks for a happy and healthy life after prison.

“We wish her and her organisation all the success they deserve for the future,” said Rotarian Mr Ferdi Heyneke.
