The new face of news in Joburg East

Joburg East Express appoints new news team.

Senior journalist, Brian Mchunu, will be the new face of news for the Joburg East Express.

Brian previously worked for the Bedfordview and Edenvale NEWS, from 2008 to 2013, as a senior journalist. He was also involved in major breaking news, including investigations into Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir.

After leaving the EXPRESS’ sister paper, the NEWS, Brian pursued a career in which he aimed to uplift various rural communities in several provinces.

Brian is a proficient journalist with a passion for storytelling and has always said working with the Bedfordview and Edenvale NEWS and the Joburg East EXPRESS felt like home to him.

“I want the Joburg East community to feel like the EXPRESS is their paper. From top to bottom, everyone who has a story to tell should have the opportunity to be included in the paper,” said Brian.

He added that through the paper, as well as its online forums, every members of the community should be able to reach the paper.

“We have a growing online footprint and residents should take advantage of this. We as journalists are now more accessible to the community than ever before,” said Brian.

“We want to encourage everyone in the community to read the EXPRESS to gain valuable knowledge of what is happening around them. The EXPRESS is a paper for everyone,” he added.

Brian looks forward to learning about the rich heritage of the Joburg East area and its residents.

“I am at my most happy when I am learning and I feel the community of Joburg East can help me,” said Brian.

He added that he would also like to see the community of Joburg East learning more about each other.
