Alert vendors alert SAPS

Street vendors helped police officers arrest five wanted criminals as they were trying commit crimes in Elma Park on Sunday, September 14.

The Edenvale SAPS spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts, said the men were spotted by street vendors as they were trying to jump over the boundary wall of a property.

“Street vendors called the police. When the officers searched the men, they found house breaking equipment and dangerous weapons on the suspects,” he said.

He added that the men were linked to several burglaries and house robberies in Edenvale, Kempton Park, Linksfield and Johannesburg.

“One of them had a warrant of arrest for house breaking. We thank the community members for being alert and working with the police,” said Lt Col Roberts.
