Ekurhuleni apologises for water inconvenience

Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality assured residents of Germiston and Bedfordview that it is aware of the current water supply interruption in these areas.

In a statement released this afternoon, the metro stated it is “closely monitoring developments being implemented by Rand Water to remedy the situtation”.

The NEWS previously reported Ekurhuleni’s mayor, Clr Mondli Gungubele, called an Imbizo for all affected residents tonight at 6pm in the Dinwiddie Hall, corner of Eltham and Sandstone roads.

“Affected areas include parts of Bedfordview, Primrose, Marlands, SunnyRidge, Solheim, Synhurst, Gerdview, Fishershill, Homestead as well as a small part of Witfield, Dawnview, Simmerfield and Wychwood.
“The Municipality has deployed water tankers to schools, hospitals, the old age home and shopping centres in the area. There are also tankers roving around the affected areas.
Residents who do have water are urged to use it sparingly.
The municipality wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused by the unplanned water interruption,” the metro stated.
