Two suspects arrested for murder

Jeppe SAPS are currently investigating a murder case after a Doornfontein security guard was killed.

Police arrested two suspects in Doornfontein in connection with the murder of a security guard on September 6.

Warrant Officer Richard Munyai, the Jeppe SAPS communications officer, said the Diepkloof SAPS received a call about a shooting at the Black Chain Mall in Diepkloof, Zone 6.

“On arrival, they found two security guards lying on the ground. One of them was dead. The other one was shot in the neck. Three bystanders were also shot. The suspects took the security guards’ firearms and an undisclosed amount of cash. A case of murder, attempted murder and armed robbery was opened for investigation,” said W/O Munyai.

Police officers received information about the whereabouts of the suspects on Wednesday.

“They went to a flat in Doornfontein. They found two men in a room. They searched the room and found a sports bag with AK 47 rifles. They continued searching and found two more AK 47s with four magazines in the house,” said W/O Munyai.

Two suspects, age 47 and 19, were arrested and detained at the Jeppe SAPS.
