Cleveland SAPS recovers hijacked vehicle

A Bedfordview resident's car that was stolen in Malvern on Saturday, September 14.

The vehicle was recovered in Jeppe’s Town the following day.

The Cleveland SAPS spokesperson, Constable Mpho Mahsakane, said the victim was at Fransquin Street in Malvern to drop off an employee when he was hijacked.

“While he was still talking to his employee, three men with firearms approached them and ordered them to lie on the ground. The suspects then searched the victims,” she said.

A watch, tablet device and a wallet containing cash was stolen, along with the victim’s 3 Series BMW.

Const Mashikane said the police investigated and were led to a property in Jeppe’s Town.

“The car registration’s plates were changed. One man was arrested at the scene,” said Const Mashikane.
