Violent windscreen washers removed

In one case, a windscreen washer pulled a knife on a female motorist.

Members of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) removed five problematic windscreen washers this afternoon, from the Modderfontein Road intersection with Van Riebeeck Avenue.

The operation follows numerous complaints received by motorists and members of the community.

“In one case, a windscreen washer pulled a knife on a female motorist,” said the chairperson for the Edenvale Community Police Forum (ECPF), Mrs Linda McKenzie.

She added that the forum had also received countless complaints regarding violent windscreen washers.
