Residents help to apprehend business robber

He threatened the employee with a knife and demanded money and cellular phones

A man was arrested for business robbery in Yeoville. The arrests took place on Hunter Street on Monday, August 26.

According to Constable Thabo Malatji, spokesperson of the Yeoville SAPS, the suspect went to a day-care centre pretending to seek information regarding the possible enrolment of his child. He then threatened the employee with a knife and demanded money and cellular phones. Const Malatji said, the man forced the employee to hand over all valuables, before he fled the scene. The employee’s screams alerted the residents and they ran after the suspect and managed to apprehend him, before calling the police. According to Const Malatji, the suspect was arrested and detained at the Yeoville SAPS. He said the suspect is expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court soon, facing charges of business robbery. @JoburgJourno
