Avenues plant thieves strike

On Wednesday morning at approximately 2am, the plant thieves struck for a third time.

For a third time, residents of Vita Pax III in Twelfth Avenue will have to replant a pavement garden after unscrupulous plant thieves struck.

According to Ms Wannita Voster, a resident at the small residential complex, the garden has become a local attraction.

“Neighbours often walk past the complex just to stop and look at the garden,” she said.

“One bride even chose the lawn with the colourful flower background for her wedding photographs,” said Ms Voster.

She added that approximately two weeks ago, resident at the complex spent roughly R2 000 to ready the garden for spring.

On Wednesday morning at approximately 2am, the plant thieves struck for a third time.

Three people can be seen on closed circuit television (CCTV) footage demolishing the garden and removing all the plants.

“Unfortunately this is a reality. What is South Africa coming to?” said Ms Voster.
