Angel of Mons celebrated

Celebrations were aimed at taking back the suburb and celebrating 100 years of history.

Mr Jerome Correa, chairperson of the Yeoville Community Police Forum (YCPF) Sector 3, Professor Kathy Munro and Ward 118 Councillor, Mike Spadino during the celebration of the Angel of Mons held in Mons Street, Observatory on Sunday, August 31.

The Yeoville Community Police Forum (YCPF) Sector 3, in conjunction with the Observatory Estate Residents Forum (OERF), celebrated the Angel of Mons during a street party held in Mons Street in Observatory on Sunday, August 31.

The celebrations were aimed at taking back the suburb and celebrating 100 years of history by commemorating the naming of Mons Street in Observatory in 1914. Speakers at the event included Mr Clint Harker of the OERF, Mr Jerome Correa, the chairperson of the YCPF Sector 3 and Professor Katherine Munro, from the YCPF Sector 3. Residents attended the event and used the opportunity to get to know their neighbours and enjoy a day out in the sun with family. @JoburgJourno
