Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago, the spokesperson for the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD), said comment on this weekend’s alleged assault incident involving two metro police officers in Edenglen will only be forthcoming once the department has received a report from the complainant.
“I was contacted by the media regarding a criminal case allegedly opened against two EMPD officers for assaulting a motorist and his wife. More than that I do not know. The matter was reported to me by the media,” said Chief Supt Kgasago.
“I only spoke to the complainant today and he will be submitting a report to us regarding the incident. Once we have received the complainant’s report, we will be able to comment on the matter in more detail,” said Chief Supt Kgasago.
Chief Supt Kgasago said detailed comment will be forthcoming, following media reports that a case of assault and intimidation was opened at the Edenvale P0lice Station. A man claims he and his wife were was assaulted by two metro officers who had flagged them down. The officers accused the man of not stopping at a red traffic light.
