Edenvale’s top cop stays

ECPF announces Lt Col Robbie Roberts is no longer transferring to Kempton Park SAPS.

According to the chairperson of the Edenvale Community Police Forum (ECPF), Mrs Linda McKenzie, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts will no longer transfer to Kempton Park and instead remain with Edenvale SAPS.

A petition by Edenvale community resulted in the collection of more than 5000 signatures from residents opposing the transfer of the top cop. The petitions were co-ordinated by Karaglen Shopping Centre and Karaglen Spar, Terrace Road Pick n Pay, Pick n Pay Eden Meadows, Eastleigh Primary School and Stoneridge Shopping Centre.

The petitions were hand-delivered by the NEWS‘ Edenvale journalist and online editor, Charmaine Slater, to the office of the MEC of Community Safety.

Mrs McKenzie said she received a telephone call earlier tonight from the SAPS Provincial Police Commissioner’s office to inform her that the head of Edenvale SAPS Crime Prevention will no longer transfer to the neighbouring suburb.

“Edenvale SAPS station commander, Colonel Eddie Trollip also phoned to inform the ECPF that Lt Col Roberts is staying,” said Mrs McKenzie.

Lt Col Roberts was previously informed to report to Kempton Park as of Monday, September 1.
