Report corruption

Residents who were urged to make a formal statement regarding alleged corruption involving Cleveland SAPS police officers recently refused this opportunity.

Speaking at the Cleveland Community Police Forum (CCPF) meeting recently, Colonel Bongani Dlamini, the station commander, said had the residents done this, their claims would have been investigated.

“Members of the community are urged to report corruption. My doors are open and we will investigate. If you see anything suspicious or illegal involving our members, please report it. We cannot fight the battle on our own. I am here to serve the community. If there is something someone has done wrong, come to me,” he said.

This is not the first time Col Dlamini has urged community members who claim officers are involved in corruption to come forward. The EXPRESS previously published an article in which he said unacceptable police conduct will be addressed.

Community members marched to the Cleveland SAPS to express their commitment to fighting crime and dissatisfaction with some police officers.

Management was called on to ensure bribery allegations, involving police officers and other officials, are investigated and eradicated and that action is taken against those who “lose” dockets.

Col Dlamini encouraged the community to expose all criminals residing in their area and to share that information with the police.
