Gordonia centre hosts Women’s Day event

Women were reminded of their rights and various platforms they can use to advocate them

Gordonia services held their Women’s Day awareness event on Friday, August 15. The event was held at the Gordonia centre in Bertrams.

Gordonia services is a project of the Central Gauteng Mental Health Society (CGMHS). The event was attended by residents from the centre and they were joined by various stakeholders to celebrate Women’s Day. A speaker from the South African Federation for Mental Health (SAFMH ) and Ms Charlene Funkel, advocacy and communications officer at the centre. The speakers spoke at length about the importance of the role women play in society. Women were reminded about their rights and the various platforms they can use to advocate them. Gordonia residents entertained the guests through music and poetry. All the women in attendance received a token of appreciation for the role they play in society. @JoburgJourno
