Supermarket robbed

Four suspects were arrested for a robbery at a supermarket on August 9.

Colonel Neo Smith, from the Jeppe SAPS, said police officers were patrolling Jeppestown when they saw four men running towards a Quantum kombi in Mcintyre Street.

“They approached the suspects, searched them and recovered one firearm. The serial number was filed off. There was also three live rounds,” said Col Smith.

The officers also found the men in possession of airtime vouchers, cigarettes, perfumes, coins and a cellular phone. The owner of a supermarket approached the police and identified all the suspects as those who had robbed him.

“All four suspects were arrested for business robbery, possession of an unlicensed firearm and unlicensed ammunition. They were detained at the Jeppe SAPS,” said Col Smith.

The men appeared in court and were remanded in custody.
