A man was arrested for rape in Yeoville. The arrest took place at the corner of Frances and De la Rey streets in Yeoville on Monday, August 11.
According to Constable Thabo Malatji, spokesperson for the Yeoville SAPS, the complainant alleged that she was drinking with the suspect and her boyfriend when she decided to go home and sleep. Const Malatji said, the suspect offered to accompany her and on the way, he took her to a room and proceeded to rape her.
He said when she woke up in the morning, she realised she was in an unfamiliar place and the suspect began to apologise for what he had done.
According to Const Malatji, she reported the matter to the police and the suspect was arrested. He said the man is expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
