A Greenstone resident has warned of muggers operating around shopping centres.
Sheila* was walking from Greenstone Shopping Centre recently, where her evening taxi dropped her off, to her residential complex close-by when she was attacked by a man.
“I noticed a man following me and started walking faster. He caught up to me and grabbed my handbag. He then hit me in the face and ran off with my handbag,” she said.
Two passing motorists chased after the man and caught him.
The motorists handed the man to passing security and Sheila’s goods were returned to her.
“Women, and in fact everyone walking around the Greenstone area, need to be alert. These things happen so quickly,” said Sheila.
She added that the motorists who came to her aid were “fantastic”.
“Without the men who helped me, I would have lost everything in my bag. Thank you so much,” she said.
