Constable Mpho Mashakane, the Cleveland SAPS communications officer, said Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) officers received information from the members of the community about two people attempting to steal a car.
“The officers went to the address provided and found two people and a car.
“They approached and searched the suspects. They also tested the vehicle,” said Const Mashakane.
It was established that the vehicle was reported hijacked in the Brixton precinct.
“The officers also checked Closed Circuit Television video footage and to establish if the suspects were trying to steal another vehicle in the area and they were,” said Const Mashakane.
The two suspects, aged 29 and 30, were arrested for the possession of a stolen vehicle and attempted theft of a vehicle.
