TREMOR UPDATE: One dead and several miners possibly trapped

The tremor which hit Johannesburg and large parts of South Africa this afternoon has claimed one life so far.

ER24 has confirmed the first fatality.

Earlier, the US Geological Society reported that the tremor measured 5.3 on the Richter scale.

There are also reports coming in that several miners are trapped underground in a mine near Orkney.

The epicenter of the seismic activity was approximately 6 kilometers from Orkney at a depth of about 10 kilometers.
