Two men nabbed for hijacking

The suspects then threatened to take the victim to the Johannesburg Central Prison, but he refused to go.

Two suspects aged, 24 and 28, were arrested for a hijacking in Yeoville.

The incident took place at the corner of Regent and Grafton streets on Friday, July 18.

“Three men, driving in a white Toyota Corolla, stopped the victim on the road and told the victim they were police officers. They pointed a firearm at the victim and ordered him out of the vehicle,” said Constable Thabo Malatji, of the Yeoville SAPS.

According to Const Malatji, one of the suspects drove the victim’s vehicle and the other two drove with the victim in their vehicle.

“The victim was searched and cash was taken from him. He was taken to the Yeoville SAPS where the suspects parked their vehicle outside the police station,” said Const Malatji.

The suspects then threatened to take the victim to the Johannesburg Central Prison, but he refused to go.

“He jumped out of the vehicle and ran inside the police station and alerted the police. The two suspects were apprehended and the victim’s vehicle was recovered in Rosettenville,” said Const Malatji.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court soon, facing charges of hijacking. @JoburgJourno
