SAPS visit old age home and clean taxi rank

The purpose of this visit was to ease the burden to the staff who works there and also to interact with senior citizens

The Bedfordview SAPS collaborated with the EMPD, Ekurhuleni City Parks as well as the Bedfordview Community Police Forum (BCPF) to initiate two programmes for Mandela Day.

The first programme comprised of Bedfordview police officials as well as the CPF members and EMPD officials visiting the Colonel Rowland Home in Bedfordview.

According to the Bedfordview SAPS communications officer, Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabathi, “The purpose of this visit was to ease the burden to the staff who works there and also to interact with senior citizens”.

“When we arrived, we cleaned the place for senior citizens inside and outside, interacted with all of them and their staff,” said Sgt Nhlabathi.

“We also established a good working relationship between this old age home and Bedfordview SAPS. We believe that senior citizens are the pillars of the nation and they must not be left unattended,” said Sgt Nhlabathi.

The Bedfordview SAPS also visited the Elandsfontein taxi rank to work with community members in cleaning the rank.

“The attendance was wonderful and the community welcomed the police when the cleaning process started. Through this act the relationship between the police and Elandsfontein community was strengthened,” said Sgt Nhlabathi.
