Four arrested for business robbery

The arrests took place at the corner of Dunbar and Fortesque streets on Thursday, July 10.

Four men aged 18, 20, 24 and 25 were arrested for business robbery in Yeoville.

The arrests took place at the corner of Dunbar and Fortesque streets on Thursday, July 10.

“The SAPS received a complaint of a business robbery and proceeded to the scene. It is alleged that four men, who were driving in a Toyota Quantum, robbed a shop owner of an undisclosed amount of cash and airtime,” said Constable Thabo Malatji, of the Yeoville SAPS.

According to Const Malatji, a resident alerted the police and a chase ensued.

“The police chased the suspects’ vehicle and managed to apprehend them. One firearm was recovered from the suspects. The shop owner’s cash and airtime were also returned to him,” said Const Malatji.

He said the suspects were taken to the Yeoville SAPS for detention.

“They are expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court soon facing charges of business robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition,” said Const Malatji. @JoburgJourno
