Blankets donated for charities

"Thank you to the Greenstone community who donates every year to the centre’s blanket drive," said the marketing assistant of the Greenstone Shopping Centre, Ms Charmaine Tiger.

The Greenstone Shopping Centre held a blanket drive from May 1 to June 30, in which residents were asked to donate blankets for the needy.

Residents and customers supported the initiative by dropping off old and new blankets. In total, 228 blankets were donated to the initiative.

Three charities were selected by three members of the public. Ms Marilyn Harper nominated Little Eden from Edenvale, Ms Sylvia Churchill nominated Mould Empower Serve from Kempton Park and Ms Meneka Naidoo nominated Kids Haven from Benoni.

“Thank you to the Greenstone community who donates every year to the centre’s blanket drive,” said the marketing assistant of the Greenstone Shopping Centre, Ms Charmaine Tiger.

Each charity received a R5 000 Greenstone gift card and an average of 75 blankets.

Each person who nominated the winning charities also won a R1 000 Greenstone gift card voucher for their efforts.

“A special thank you to Pick n Pay, Bidvest Bank, The Matador Luggage, Mugg n Bean and everyone who took the time to bring in the blankets,” said Ms Tiger.
