Bank card fraudster caught

A man who tried to purchase two laptops with a credit card that did not belong to him was arrested on July 6.

Constable Mpho Mashakane, the Cleveland SAPS communications officer, said a Kensington business employee alleged that a man entered the shop and wanted to buy two laptops to the value of R10 000 each. He produced a credit card to make the purchase.

“The cashier swiped the card but it did not work. The bank was contacted and it was confirmed the card did not belong to the man,” said Const Mashakane.

The card had been blocked. The SAPS was contacted and the man (35) was arrested and detained at the Cleveland SAPS.
