Rotary Club kicks off new year

The focus areas for the awards included literacy and education, health services, food collecting and distribution, supporting various orphanages and homes, sourcing and delivery of blankets and fundraising.

The Rotary Club of Bedfordview held its weekly meeting at the Belgravia Bowling Club on Tuesday, July 1.

The club started its new 2014 to 2015 Rotary year with the theme ‘Light up Rotary’. The club also used the meeting as an opportunity to celebrate the previous year’s successes of making a difference in the local community.

The meeting featured an awards ceremony in which Mr Bill Viggers, the president of the Rotary Club of Bedfordview, thanked the club and rewarded members who worked during the past year.

The focus areas for the awards included literacy and education, health services, food collecting and distribution, supporting various orphanages and homes, sourcing and delivery of blankets and fundraising.

During the meeting, the club also inducted a new member, Ms Melanie Labuschagne.

“The club would like to sincerely thank everyone in the local and surrounding communities who continue to support in any way and who help make a lasting difference in so many lives,” said Mr Ferdi Heyneke.
