Mandela Day clean-up for friends

The paint will be used to re-coat the upright poles and roofing on the market stalls.

The Friends of Horwood’s Farm plans to host its annual Mandela Day clean-up and Crafter’s Market on July 20.

The event will be open to all from 9am to 3pm and those attending can look forward to a performance by Mr Pieter Jordaan.

The Friends of Horwood’s Farm recently received a donation of undercoat paint from resident, Ms Cathy Ogier.

The paint will be used to re-coat the upright poles and roofing on the market stalls.

It is planned that the younger volunteers will attend to the gardens from the homestead to the river as well as the amphitheatre and playground area.

This contribution of community service is recognized by the schools in the area.

There will be a table at the entrance where volunteers will register and upon completion of their service, they will be given a ticket which entitles them to a free hot dog, chips and a cold drink.

Those assisting on the day can also look forward to some musical entertainment including singer, Mr Pieter Jordaan, who will sing for his 67 minute contribution.

The crafters market will run for the duration of the day.

Several stalls will be on offer including vintage clothing, ornamental woodworks, Dutch baking, ceramic art clocks and tiles, fabric painted home goods, baby gifts and garden ceramics.

Food stalls booked for the day include breakfast rolls, pancackes, Indian food, boerewors and cheese griller rolls.

For more information, or to book a stall, contact Mrs Sharon Lendrum-Frittelli on 082 606 0906 or 011 454-1627 or email shaze@iafrica.com
