Murder accused appears in court

The man arrested in Edenvale in connection with the murder of a woman at the Rusty Lady Deli Bistro, Kensington will be taken in for mental observation.

Ms Natalie Dube (25), a Malvern resident, was found dead at the business on July 9 last year by a colleague.

Her throat was allegedly cut and she was stabbed.

Her feet and hands were also tied with electrical cords.

A man was arrested in connection with the murder. He was traced and arrested at a hotel in Edenvale on the same day.

He has made several appearances in court since the incident.

Constable Mpho Mashakane, the Cleveland SAPS communications officer, said he appeared in court on Tuesday last week but has not pleaded yet.

“The man is still in custody. The state took him for mental observation to determine if he is fit to stand trial. The procedure will take about 30 days,” she said.
