Schools battle it out at Saheti festival

Nearly 1 000 players from 11 schools participated in various soccer and netball matches in the U/9 to open age groups.

Sacred Heart College were among the schools competing when Saheti Primary School’s tenth annual Winter Festival took place on Saturday, June 21.

Nearly 1 000 players from 11 schools participated in various soccer and netball matches in the U/9 to open age groups.

According to Saheti’s primary school vice-principle, Mr Brett Nicholson, “The festival is aimed at having children from different schools compete with energy and passion. It is to teach them the importance of sportsmanship towards fellow players and match officials. The focus of the festival is to expose children to the two sports, providing them with experience.”

The schools that participated include Cornwall Hill College, St John’s College, Jan Celliers, Hurlyvale Primary School, Woodhill College, St Martin’s School, Sacred Heart College, St Catherine’s School, Bedfordview Primary School, Bishop Bavin School and Saheti School.

“Organising the festival has been a tough task, however we are happy with the outcome. The festival consisted of positive fun with lots of interaction between the schools and the parents. We would like to thank the schools that competed. It is the children who made the festival, not anyone else,” said Mr Nicholson.
