Law student does Kensington proud

Maud-Pia Hill, a Kensington resident and past pupil of Jeppe High School for Girls, was commended for the exceptional results she obtained recently as a law student.

Maud-Pia, who completed her first of two years LLB last year, having Cum–Lauded her BCom (Law) in 2012 and was classed as a third year LLB student, was awarded several prizes at the prestige evening awards held recently by the Law Faculty of the University of Johannesburg.

She obtained the following prizes:

  • Cherith-Ann Bracher Prize, which is awarded to the student with the best results in Law of Criminal Procedure.
  • The Constitution Floating Trophy for Constitutional Law, which is awarded to the best student in Constitutional Law.
  • Ex-Chief Justice Rumpff Prize and Trophy, which is awarded to the student with the best results in Criminal Law.
  • Goldsmith & Papenfus Prize, which is awarded by O’Hagan Attorneys to the best third-year LLB Student.
  • The Hogan Lovells (SA) Prize, which is awarded to the student with the best results in Law of Evidence and Litigation Techniques.
  • Juta Book Prize, which is awarded to the law student who obtained the best academic results irrespective of year of study.
  • The Law Society of the Northern Provinces Certificate, where a number of universities nominate a candidate for this certificate as the best student in the Law of Evidence and Litigation Techniques.
  • Lexisnexis Book Prize, which is awarded to the student with the best individual performance in Law of Civil Procedure.
  • Werksmans Attorneys Prize, which is awarded to the student with the best results in Law of Civil Procedure.

Maud-Pia, the daughter of proud parents Mr Ron and Mrs Maria Hill, also qualified to be a member of the Ujenius Club which is for students who maintained an average of 75 percent with no mark below 70 percent.

Ms Sue Muller, who deals with communications for the I Love Kensington Association (Ilka), commended Maud-Pia.

“Her achievements are exceptional,” she said.
