Police trace vehicle, man

Police officers found a vehicle and a man who was taken by suspects on June 13

Warrant Officer Richard Munyai, the Jeppe SAPS communications officer, said a man driving a company vehicle stopped on the side of the M2 freeway in Jeppestown.

He was approached by two men.

The men, one of whom was in possession of a firearm and the other in possession of a knife, asked for directions.

The suspects then entered the vehicle and drove it while the man was inside.

“The suspects stopped at Crown Mines. They took the man to the back of the vehicle and covered him with a plastic bag. They continued driving but stopped later and took him out of the vehicle. They left him in a shack in Zondi, Soweto,” said W/O Munyai.

After a few hours, the man heard people talking outside. He also heard a police radio. He managed to escape the shack where he found police officers outside with the two suspects. W/O Munyai said the vehicle was found because it had a tracking device. The man informed the police that he was hijacked by the men. The men were arrested.
