The Caxton Reynolds Race kicked off on a high note on June 7, at Hirsch’s in Boksburg.

The eager and energetic teams braved the cold weather, all hoping to score high in their first task of the race.

The Reynolds Race is based on the popular television show, called the Amazing Race, and will require participating teams to complete various tasks across the East Rand in order to win the big prize.

A points system will be used to monitor the teams’ performances and to score them accordingly.

The first team to finish a task within the given time walks away with the bragging rights and top points, which will be added to their overall score card.

The three teams with the most points by the end of the seventh week will all go into the finals, which will be held in Springs on August 2.

See the task the teams had to complete below:

Balloon Lift

Contestants chose one team member to get a balloon inside a washing machine, using only their index fingers to keep the balloon up in the air until the balloon was inside the washing machine.

Cookie Face

Contestants had to pick one team member, who placed an Oreo cookie on their forehead. Using only their facial muscles, contestants had to direct the cookie into their mouth. Contestants needed to get four Oreas into their mouths to win.

Tissue run

Teams had to take tissue paper out of a tissue box using only one hand. The first team to take all the tissues out of the box won.

Several teams tied with their scores on June 7.
