Hijacking prevented by determined driver
The Bedfordview SAPS is looking for a man in connection with an attempted truck hijacking that took place in Bedfordview recently.
According to the Bedfordview SAPS communications officer, Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabathi, “A man was transporting company good when he noticed a VW Polo flashing lights at him.”
“The truck driver stopped on the side of the road. Three men exited the Polo. One of the suspects was armed with a firearm. The three men demanded the man exit the truck. The truck driver refused, which led to one of the suspects trying to drag him out of the truck,” said Sgt Nhlabathi.
“When a passing motorist saw what was happening, he stopped and attempted to help the driver. The three suspects entered their vehicle and fled the scene,” said Sgt Nhlabathi.
