One day course regarding addiction

Professional therapists will share addiction statistics, discuss the process of addiction, the different classifications of drugs and the effects drugs have on the body.

A one-day course titled The ABC of addiction will be hosted by Wedge Gardens, Rand Aid Association’s substance abuse treatment centre.

The deadline for booking is Friday, May 16.

The conference is aimed at health professionals but members of the public who are confronted with problems regarding addiction are also welcome to attend at a cost of R400.

The course will be held on Thursday, May 22, in the Tarentaal Village Community Centre, at the corner of Modderfontein Road and Wordsworth Avenue, Lyndhurst, from 8am to 4pm.

Professional therapists will share addiction statistics, discuss the process of addiction, the different classifications of drugs and the effects drugs have on the body. They will also discuss the behaviour of an addict.

The impact of addiction on family members, whether in- or out-patient treatment is best and if treatment should be voluntary or involuntary will also be discussed.
