An Edenvale man was arrested on Saturday night for the rape of a 15-year-old girl.
The man’s friend was also taken into custody after he refused to allow the police access to the house where the man was hiding.
The acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts said the arrests came after the young girl reported the incident to police officers.
“Officers were dispatched to the location of the man but when they arrived at the house in the Avenues, the home owner refused them access,” said Lt Col Roberts.
Officers forced entrance onto the property and found the suspect hiding inside.
The man’s friend appeared in court on Monday on charges of defeating the ends of justice for harbouring a criminal.
The arrested for rape also appeared in court on Monday.
