Three arrested for unlicensed firearms and ammunition

According to Const Malatji, the suspects were unable to produce licenses for the firearms when asked to do so.

Three men were arrested for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

The incident occurred at the corner of Regent and Raymond streets in Yeoville.

“The police received information about three men who were acting suspiciously and had entered a business premises. On arrival, police officers searched the three men and found two pistols with the serial numbers filed off. Ammunition was also found on one of the suspects,” said Constable Thabo Malatji, of the Yeoville SAPS.

According to Const Malatji, the suspects were unable to produce licenses for the firearms when asked to do so.

“The suspects were detained and are expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court soon, facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition,” said Const Malatji.
