Woman kidnaps baby

The Jeppe SAPS is searching for a woman who kidnapped a baby boy, nine months old, on May 5.

Warrant Officer Richard Munyai, the Jeppe SAPS communications officer, said a woman alleged she left the Coronation Hospital on May 5 with her baby and met a woman in a taxi. They apparently had a conversation and the suspect asked the woman why she has bruises and a swollen face.

“The woman told her that she was stressed and the suspect told her about a church in George Goch that could help her with prayers,” said W/O Munyai.

The woman agreed to go to the church and on their arrival the suspect told the woman that children are not allowed to go inside.

“She suggested the woman give her the baby and that she would stay behind with him at the gate. The woman went in the church to consult with the priests and after 30 minutes she came out to find that the woman had disappeared with the baby,” said W/O Munyai.

A case was opened at the Jeppe SAPS.

W/O Munyai said the suspect has gold teeth and spoke isiZulu.
