YCPF Election nominations closing date changed

The closing date for residents to forward their nominations in the Yeoville Community Police Forum (YCPF) elections was changed.

The initial closing date for nominations was April 25 and was changed to May 2 due to the poor response received from members of the community.

This change of date was communicated to the EXPRESS after the April 29 edition’s editorial deadline.

“The response was slow. People did not send their nominations as we had hoped,” said Mr Joseph Dube, deputy secretary of the YCPF.

People who reside in the Yeoville SAPS precinct are entitled to vote in the election to determine the new executives of the three sectors.

It is a requirement that candidates live in the sector for which they have been nominated.

The nominee cannot be an office bearer of any political party registered with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) and this includes branches. Political structures can nominate individuals. The nominee cannot be a reservist with the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) or the SAPS.

The dates and venues for the elections are:

Sector 1; May 14 at the Elijah Barayi Conference Centre at 7pm.

Sector 2; May 13 at St Aidans Anglican Church in Regent Street at 7pm.

Sector 3; May 15 at Observatory Golf Club at 7pm.
