Sector chairperson offers help

Complaints related to poor service delivery from the Jeppe SAPS can be reported to the Sector 1 Crime Forum.

Mr Zola Dambula, the chairperson of the forum, urged the community in the sector to contact him if they have complaints related to poor service delivery.

He made this suggestion following complaints from Clr Victor Penning, a Kensington resident, about unanswered sector vehicle phones and an increase in crime during the day.

The EXPRESS previously published an article about crimes that affected Clr Penning. He said one of his bakkies was stolen and a criminal tried to steal the other outside his property.

When someone tried to steal his bakkie, he called the sector vehicle number and no one answered the call.

Instead, he heard a message stating that he should call the other sector number. He phoned the other number and received the same response.

He said crime during the day seemed to be increasing and suspicious people are seen in the area while police officers drive past. These people are not stopped, searched or arrested.

In response, Mr Dambula said, “I encourage the community in the sector to contact me. I will pass on the information to the Jeppe SAPS’ senior management. I am passionate and committed about service delivery initiatives and the improvement thereof. As the Sector 1 Crime Forum, we have established a good working relationship with Brigadier Govindsamy Mariemuthoo and his management team,” said Mr Dambula.
