The Jeppe SAPS urges people who have information about recent business robberies in the precinct to come forward.

On April 21, a driver was delivering meat in Vickers Road, City Deep.

“He entered the security guard’s room and found two men in possession of firearms. The suspects forced him and his colleague to the back of the building. One of the suspects kept guard while the other unloaded pallets of meat into a truck,” said Warrant Officer Richard Munyai, the Jeppe SAPS communications officer. He said the suspects drove off with meat worth more than R100 000.

Another business premises was also robbed on the same day in Bertrams.

“The victim alleged that he was counting stock in the fridge when he was approached by one of his colleagues. The colleague told him robbers were at the cash registers. The victim went to the teller and found two men trying to open the cash registers,” said W/O Munyai.

When the suspects saw the victim, they instructed him to open the cash registers. They pointed firearms at him and he complied with their order.

“The suspects also instructed him to take them to the manager’s office. They ordered him to open a safe and they took money before they fled the scene,” said W/O Munyai.
